The 27 Bus

On Tuesdays my students have British Life & Culture class, so I usually do not have a set meeting time with them, and get to spend the whole day with my family.  Last week we took the 27 bus down to Holland Park and High Street Kensington.

In all our trips to London (well about 3 trips prior to Fall 2010), I had never bothered with the busses, and I probably never would have had it not been for our kids desire to ride a double decker bus.  The busses are not the most efficient method of getting around London, but they are a nice relaxing way to get around when you are not in a rush.

I'm delighted the kids made us figure out the busses.  Though, take it from Carolina you should not apply dark lip gloss while the bus is in motion.

We always love Holland Park.  I still think it is a slightly better playground than the two we've checked out in Regent's park, though those are pretty great, and super convenient.

They needed a little encouragement, but the kids really took to the "sit lion" this year.  However, Carolina would really only ride with her daddy.

After a couple of hours at the park, we were all getting hungry.  The only thing the kids wanted to eat was Byron, so Ralph and I made the sacrifice and went to Byron.  Afterwards I tried to do a little maternity shopping on the high street.  I only brought three pairs of pants to London, all maternity pants, but one pair is really too big for me to keep up.  I was afraid that before we got back home I would NEED maternity clothes and didn't want to bring pants I would NOT be able to wear for the whole trip.  I was not successful with my maternity pant search, but I did get Carolina a new hat,
 and Connor a new scarf!
They were delighted to model their new items for me while we waited for the 27 bus to pick us up and take us back to Camden Town.
