On our last study abroad trip, we were fortunate to have been able to take a Eurostar trip to Paris, though we very nearly didn't because I didn't plan very well. In addition to learning that Connor LO-O-OVES the Eurostar, possibly as much as legos and Star Wars, though the actual ranking depends on the day. We learned a few things about traveling on the Eurostar, the most important of which is book early! So, last week we went to the ticket office at St. Pancras to see what kind of deal we could hopefully get on a Eurostar trip to Brussels, since we've already been to Paris. Booking early makes a very serious difference, and since it only takes about 2 hours to travel from St. Pancras to Brussels, we decided to just make it a day trip, with an extension to any station in Belgium, so we can hop on over to Brugge if we desire. After sorting out our tickets for next month, we decided to head upstairs and take a peak at the Eurostar trains to a refrain of, "how many more days until we get to ride the eurostar to chocolate land?"
Connor questioned the authenticity of these Eurostars on the basis of the logo on the train not having any stars on it, like they used to. I think we finally convinced him that these were real eurostars and that "they" had simply updated the logo, but he was still a little unsure. Lord knows Con has an eye for detail and he has made a fairly exhaustive study of Eurostars, particularly for a 5 year old.
We also took a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of St. Pancras. The train station really is beautiful and impressive, and ready for the 2012 games. I'm also looking forward to the games, even though we'll be long gone, just like the 2008 games, we should have a new born. Nothing like catching the middle of the night NBC affiliate broadcasts while nursing.
And then I took a moment to appreciate Carolina Grace's faces in her cute new hat! :)

I love her hat. How fun to get to go to Brussels for a day. I'm jealous.
